Julis Romo Rabinowitz Building & Louis A. Simpson International Building

Princeton University has repurposed a 1929 Collegiate Gothic building into a transparent and welcoming research environment with the renovation of the former Frick Chemistry Laboratory. The strategic new additions completely transformed the structure, which is now known as The Julis Romo Rabinowitz Building and Louis A. Simpson International Building.

The historic character of the exterior and primary interior areas – including the entry and library – were preserved while adding a modern flair with sleek glass elements. For example, a beautiful atrium now encloses the existing stone façade courtyard and connects to Scudder Plaza.

KPMB Architects were responsible for the design with installation by Clear View Architectural Metal & Glass. Once again, Imagic Glass was tasked with finely etching patterns in ¾” low iron tempered laminated glass. This glass was then used for balustrades, railings, partitions and sidelites.

The completed project is a beautiful blend of old and new and provides the required space for the Department of Economics. Imagic Glass was delighted to be a part of this unique architectural endeavour.
